The lovely people from Soul Buggin’ have invited me to come up and play in Nottingham this weekend. I am more than a bit nervous if I am honest, but hopefully it won’t be a complete disaster! If you’re not familiar with the concept of FYE then here is a short description I “borrowed” from their blog:
“the concept has remained unchanged in 10 years. A group of djs (12 in this case) get to play for 30 minutes of whatever they want and however they want and in turn keep the night constantly fresh, eclectic and interesting. The results are always unpredictable and this is the very true essence of an FYE night. What on paper sounds like an absolute disaster waiting to happen turns out to be pretty special due to the fact the selectors tend to have bloody good record collections!”
I’m not 100% sure how bloody good my own collection is compared to these other people’s… But fingers crossed they won’t think I’m shit! If you are in Nottingham or somewhere near this weekend, please pop in and say hello. I will be on at 10:30pm and by the look of things – I’ll only be playing 45s :) So come come come! Rumour has it that their nights are dope!
So my wonderful boss went to Belgium the other weekend to spin some records in Ghent. Looks like it was a great party – shame I couldn’t go!
Ahem… so 2011 hasn’t really been a good blogging year so far. I have no excuse apart from the fact that I am trying to figure out what I want to do, with the blog and other things in my life in general.
However, in case any of you missed it during my silence, I got voted 18th Best Cloudcaster of 2010 over at Mixcloud. It was a complete surprise if I’m honest! And I know it might not seem like a big deal for many people, but it kind of is for me – mainly because I know its just as much thanks to all of you as it is me and the work I’ve put into making them.
So I did a little celebratory mix as my way of saying thank you for all the support and love you guys have been showing me. I definitely wouldn’t have ranked so high without you! I hope you enjoy xxx
Big up Lefto for this great video! I had an amazing time at WWA this weekend, even though I was working. Massive thanks and shouts to Gilles Peterson and the Brownswood crew (especially Peggy, Simon and Alex for doing such a fantastic job with the awards, and to Ems for being my partner in crime at the merch stall and making me giggle throughout the night)
Was great to see some of the extended worldwide family present at the awards as well and some lovely faces I havent seen for such a long time. Now bring on Worldwide Festival 2011 so we can party!
P.s. Make sure you read this great review of the evening by Joe Muggs!
