Hello my friends! I hope you’re good today! A little email dropped in my inbox earlier today reminding me about this mini documentary featuring Oddisee, an artists that I look up to a lot, so I thought I would share it with the rest of you. Below is a little description, and I hope you enjoy! Much love x

In anticipation of the official release of their forthcoming debut effort, In The Ruff, the trio of Oddisee, X.O., and YU, collectively making up the group Diamond District, take some time out from their day to break down the boundaries that define the area where the group was born and raised – the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia). From a bird’s eye view, Oddisee points over the bridge to where he grew up in Maryland and X.O. and yU show us where our nation’s capital lies on the northwest corner. Diamond District is essentially standing at the crossroads of the DMV, and even more important than their geographic location is the mind state and way of life that comes from living at that intersection. As the video progresses, each member brings us a little deeper into their worlds. X.O. explains how the movement began in DC and slowly spilled over into Maryland and Virginia; YU brings us into his friend’s apartment where he delivers a flow packed with cleverness and slick delivery; Oddisee brings us into his modest home studio where he shows us that you don’t need a lavish setup to create head-nodding beats that we are accustomed to hearing from the boom-bap beat-smith. And with each segment you leave with more insight than you came with, as the trio drops knowledge, both individually and collectively.

Diamond District’s “In The Ruff” will be available October 27th!

Hello my dear friends!
I hope you are all good and that you had a nice weekend! I have been a busy little bee lately so I haven’t posted an OrsiiCast here for over a month. However, my friend Alex from On-Point turned 25 yesterday, something I felt like I had to celebrate in one form or another. I have never met him in my life, and he is kind enough to let me stay with him this weekend when I am going over to Brussels. So, I figured I would dedicate this very groovy little OrsiiCast to him. Be prepared to be blown away by some funkalicious tunes my friends! If you manage to sit still to this one, I will be very surprised!

Happy Birthday Alex! I hope you had an amazing day yesterday. I wish you all the love, well being and happiness in the world. Thank you for the continues support and for all the positive energy and inspiration you spread. This one is for you… Much Love – Orsi x

I had an early start to my Sunday today, got up 8am in order to make my way down to the breakfast club for American pancakes & free wifi. Managed to send off my new radio show in time, post two blog posts, and on my way back home I couldn’t help but to admire London in this beautiful autumn weather. I got home, checked off some items on my to do list, washed the dirty dishes, and decided to give my mum a call whilst enjoying a fresh cup of coffee. Little did I know that she would tell me that one of my grandmas best friends had passed away… She told me she was on her way over to see her and that she’d call me back so I could speak with her and try to cheer her up.

And so now I sit here on the sofa, with the sun shining in through the window, and I can see how my teardrops slightly sparkle as they fall to the ground. I know we can’t escape death, but it just seems like death is slowly taking more and more of my family friends. And I can’t help but to wonder how long it will be until I get the phonecall telling me that one of my grand parents have passed away.

I know that day will have to come, but just the thought of it really scares me… We’re only 5 people in my family, and that’s including myself. I don’t have any brothers or sisters, and neither do my parents. I was brought up very close to my grand parents, and since I moved to London, especially since I started working, I have seen them less & less. And even though I probably shouldn’t, I feel so guilty for not being there in times like these.

I’m not ashamed to admit that my biggest fear in life is to end up alone. And knowing that 2/5 of my family might soon be taken away from me doesn’t really help. Just the thought of losing them makes me cry, and I’m dreading the day they won’t be around. No matter how fucked up and dysfunctional my family is, it’s mine, and I wouldn’t be half the person I am today if it wasn’t for them. So I can’t even begin to try to express the emptiness and sadness I would feel if I lost one of them. It would be like losing 1/5 of myself…

release

I am heading over to Brussels for the first time ever in my life to attend this event called RELEASE. It’s gonna be a great night with fantastic vibes and amazing people, all there to support independent music & checking out new talents and bedroom producers from Belgium and neighbouring countries. The event is being held by Onda Sonora and you can find all the information you need over at the RELEASE WEBSITE . I am making my way there all the way from London to show my love and support, so if you live in Brussels, or anywhere near Brussels, and you DON’T attend, I will be very disappointed! It is a must-go party if you are a fan and supporter of independent music & artists! So much love to you all and I expect to see my Belgian crew on the 3rd October at the RELEASE party, representing good music and spreading the love! x

Right, so you need to watch this video… Why? Because I can’t remember the last time I watched or listened to something that made me smile & giggle this much. And shed a little tear if Im honest. But not due to sadness or because it was bad, but simply because… I don’t know, I find it very heart warming and slightly overwhelming when I come across people that are really passionate about what they love doing. Mostly because I can relate to it. And yes, this mini documentary didn’t just make me smile the biggest smile ever, but it also reminded me that there are so many amazing and talented people out there, JC being one of them, and they never stop to amaze me with their dedication and passion and energy. They inspire me to keep on doing what I am doing, and they feed me with the energy and positivity that I need whenever I feel like I cant muster the strength carry on. So yeah, please make sure to watch the video, download the preview EP “A Man and His Funk” over at On-Point, leave him a comment and show your support!

Hello my lovelies!
I know I haven’t been the best at updating, but I still don’t have internet at home, so it is not me being lazy, I just don’t have access to the all might interwebs. But look at this! look at this! A very special treat in the form of an amazing mix from the MOOVMNT crew, featuring Busy VS Mono/Poly!! I have to admit, I almost came a little in my pants when I heard and saw it the first time, it is sooooo good! You’d have to be an absolute idiot not to check it out, seriously…

I am offering a cute little ninja panda to who ever that is willing to spend some time, love and effection on her.

Description:

- She is maybe not the best looking panda in the world, but this is of course a matter of individual taste, and she has been referred to as “cute” on many occasions.
- She has a very silly sense of humor and usually ends up laughing the loudest & longest at her own jokes.
- She can be a little messy from time to time, but responds well to guilt, and makes more of an effort once you’ve made her feel guilty for not cleaning or putting away things.
- She loves to cook, and her food usually turns out very tasty if I may say so myself, so if you want somebody who will spoil your stomach with delicious food, she is the panda for you!
- She has a decent taste in music, but is always on the look out to explore new things, so you being into music would definitely be a plus. Oh and she loves making little playlists for daily things such as washing up and drinking your morning coffee. So if you’re looking for somebody to supply you with a daily soundtrack to your life, you can’t go wrong with this little panda!
- She can be some what stubborn at times, and she usually never gives in once her mind is made up. But a bit of flattering can sometimes make her loosen her stubborn ways.
- She is very cuddley and is in need of daily cuddles (at least 2/day) and a lot of effection. If you cannot offer this, please do not reply as this is very crucial for her well being and happiness.
- She is very loyal and trustworthy. She values her friends and family very high and would do almost anything for them.
- She is usually a very happy little panda and does her best to brighten up your day.

So if this is a little ninja Panda that you would be interested in having, please leave a comment and the most suitable person will be contacted as soon as possible. Thank you!

Good morning my friends,

I hope you’ve had a nice weekend so far. Mine was a bit hectic, and everything that could go wrong went wrong. But at least I managed to convince my old estate agents to finally give me my deposit back, so I’ll be able to buy food again, yaaay!

As I was making some pasta with cheese last night I had the strangest feeling hitting me. You know when you were a kid, you’d sometimes imagine what your life would be like as a grown up, and usually, reality is nothing like the image you once had. And this feeling of “wow, this is actually my life” hit me last night which felt a bit strange.

I mean, during my years at university my reason for being in london was simply that, to attend uni. Now, 1 year & 4 months later, I’m finding myself in a nice little house in a residental area, a full time job where I get up 6:30am every day and arrive home around 7:30pm if I’m lucky. I spend time sitting in the kitchen with all the bills on the table, trying to make up monthly food & travel budgets, hoping there will be some money left for other things. I clean, I wash, I’m even planning future dinner parties in my head and what to buy my mother for Christmas. And I can’t help to wonder what happened… So many of my friends have gone traveling, explored the world & explored themselves, whilst I went straight to uni and after straight to start working… And I’m starting to question if this was the right thing to do.

I sat in the garden last night and had a little ponder about my life (yes, again…) what if I would just give all this up? Not the working part, but the blogging and music part. I mean, am I really making a difference? Not really. There are plenty of other people out there who do it much better than me, and it would be rather easy to replace me with somebody/something else, seeing as the selection is endless on the world wide web. So why not just become an ordinary Joe, who goes to work, goes for a couple of after work drinks, comes home and watch crappy telly whilst having a curry or some shepards pie, complain about the weather and my football teams position in the league, date some city boy who wears a suite for work, pretend that I give a fuck about if I drink Merlot or Shiraz, maybe even buy the latest coldplay album for extra torture, and maybe somewhere between all this he’d pop the question, I’d say yes because quite frankly, I’m not getting any younger, and he does have good manners plus a good respectable job… Our wedding would be average and his best man would most likely reveal that my now husband used to wear girls underwear from time to time for a giggle. We’d get a house in Surrey, I’d pop out two or three kids, we’d visit his patents every weekend and probably name our first born son after his great great grandfather. I’d take up gardening and all I would be dreaming of is to buy those matching curtains for the dining room as it would go well with our nice china and the colour of the walls. My dreams of working with music would be long lost and my main concerns would be to get my children in to the right schools and make sure they get a proper education.

Hm… Or maybe the life I live isn’t too bad after all.

Hello my friends! I hope you’re good today, Im feeling better than yesterday. Rolled up at work and came across this little mix from Julius over at the Laid Back website. It that aired on FM Brussels this week and I wanted to share with you since it looked like a great selection of tunes.
