I have been working on this special edition of my OrsiiCast for a while now, and it is a bit longer than my usual ones. As some of you know, I have always considered music to be my one true love. I relate so many, if not all, of my happiest moments in life to a song, an album or a certain artist. Music makes me feel complete and it has played a major role in shaping me into the person I am today, for good and for worse.
This Musical Love Letter (Vol.1) includes a lot artists that have had a big influence on me, artists that have touched my heart and soul, artists that I now consider a part of me, beats and melodies that form my Orsi universe .
I’ll never forget discovering the likes of Nina Simone, Jimi Hendrix, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and Al Green (to name a very few) in my fathers record collection and being blown away by their music. They lead me on a path where I discovered artists such as A Tribe Called Quest, J Dilla, Erykah Badu, D’Angelo, Mos Def, Talib Kweli and Jill Scott. Of course, as time goes by, I keep discovering more and more amazing music, and some of these discoveries also form part of this special edition podcast.

Here we are again with yet another OrsiiCast. I might not have been aware of it when I first selected the tunes for this new podcast, but it very much represents how I have been feeling lately. Some ups & some downs, fussing & fighting, smiling & loving, a bit like this mix. It includes some new tunes from Sa Ra Creative Partners, Quantic And His Combo Bárbaro and Lee Fields & The Expressions to name a few, and some old goodies like Dusty Springfield’s “Spooky” and one of my favourite tracks, “Why Can’t There Be Love”, with Dee Edwards. I am finally BACK ladies and gentlemen, delivering some new tunes in the form of my 5th official OrsiiCast! Sorry for the long wait, but as you know, there has been a lot going on. However, during the long wait, we have somehow slipped into the month of May and hopefully with some nice weather approaching, I thought I would put together a little mix perfect for outdoor activities in the sun, such as BBQ’s or perhaps a lazy day in the park. This baby is packed with some funky goodness, a few old ones, a couple of newish ones, and plenty booty shaking ones. I think this quote from the beginning of a James Brown song fits in rather well with the essance of this podcast:

As promised, I am back with a fresh selection of great tunes, just in time to lay down the soundtrack for the coming week (which hopefully will be as sunny as previous one). The 4th edition is a nice blend of soulful sounds, funky beats and warm harmonies. It includes Speech Debelle’s latest single “The Key”, two amazing tracks from Mayer Hawthorne and The County (my latest obsession “Maybe So, Maybe No” being one of them), and a mix I made of one of my favourite songs of all time, California Soul by Marlena Shaw, plus one of the best remixes I have heard of the same song (by Diplo if anybody is interested). I had some major technical difficulties making this podcast, not to mention the difficulties I had actually uploading it. However, it is now here, for all of you to enjoy. I have been waiting for some sunshine in order to upload this latest podcast, since spring and sunshine was my inspiration when I made it. But after having it ready for almost 2 weeks, and no sunshine, I thought I would upload it anyway. Who knows, it might bring out the sun if you play it. Although I must admit, I did some last minute changes to it… But only because I got some new music that I thought worked perfectly with the tracks I already had. So yes, now it feels complete and I do hope you will like it as much as I do! To be fair, there are some pretty damn good songs on there. A new tune off Bullion’s latest EP “Young Heartache”, a very recent obsession from Hudson Mohawke, and some general feel good music. I am too tired to actually write anything that makes sense. However, I woke up to the track below this morning, and it has been on repeat in my head all day. Made me think of Anna, and the fact that I haven’t really seen any of my friends, or been out for ages. Anyway, just thought I would share… To listen to the whole podcast (that put this song in my head to begin with) just head over here and download it.
After a week with some beef with the internet gods, I have been able to upload the latest podcast! I was asked to compile a jazzy hiphop one, and of course, I rose to the challenge and started digging in my little music collection to find some delicious tunes that you guys might like. Its been done for almost a week now, and I would say there is a little bit of old, little bit of blue, little bit of new and little bit of borrowed music in there. Although people who know their hiphop would most probably say that it is packed with some classic songs. I even tried it out at work the other day, where I got the response “Where you even born when most of these songs were out!?”. My answer to that was: “You’re never too young to appreciate good music”. So I hope you enjoy!
